Being Impeccable with our Word
Being impeccable with our word is one of the agreements from The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We can practice this in our everyday lives…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In big ways - like making sure our actions and our words align with our values.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In hard ways - like making sure we give the direct feedback to our colleague, versus simply talking about our colleague to their manager.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In small but important ways - like returning the thing we borrowed if we say we will, or calling our friend back if we say we will, or sending the follow up notes after the meeting if we say we will.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes, it can be helpful to start with the small stuff and expand from there.
Some questions to consider include:
Do my words align with my actions?
Do my actions align with my values?
Am I being impeccable with my word, to the best of my ability?
What are the small ways in which I’m not being impeccable with my word?
What could it look like to shift or adjust, in service of being impeccable with my word?
